Details

These perforated adhesive backed products create great window graphics and window signs that don't block the view from the inside of the window. Available with 50%, 30% or 20% perforation, they are perfect for business or vehicle window signs where you need to be able to see out from the inside. These materials are also great for reducing the heat from the sun through the glass, with the materials with less perforations blocking the most heat.

The 50/50 perf is most common for vehicle windows as it has the greatest amount of material removed, so it has the clearest view out from the inside. However, this also means the graphic on the outside is the least visible. The 70/30 perf pattern is a nice balance between image quality and visibility, but check the laws in your state as to what percentage is legal before ordering this for a vehicle graphic. It is legal in many states, but not all. The 80/20 perf has the very best image quality and blocks the most heat, so it's great for business windows and situations where the greatest privacy is desired.

Longevity of 1-2 years outdoors. Available in widths up to 60".

Favorite Features

The fact that you can cover a window with a graphic that looks solid on the outside, but still see through it on the inside.

Drawbacks

Some cities have ordinances and zoning laws that limit the number of percentage of store front windows that can be covered, so check for any local resistrictions before ordering, especially when covering large window areas. When used on vehicle back windows, defrosters can damage the graphic so they shouldn't be used, which can make it more difficult to clear the back window in cold climates. Other than on flat vehicle windows, such as the back windows on most trucks, it should be installed on vehicles by experienced installers as conforming it to curved surfaces can be difficult.

Best Applications

View through window graphics on business or vehicle windows. Often used on vehicles as part of full wraps.

Installation Instructions

These instructions are provided for our customers that want to install their own window decals. Tools you will need: Soft squeegee or protect the image with paper (hard squeegee will damage the print), and masking tape for larger graphics. You can also use your hands to apply the decal, but it will be more difficult to get all the air out by hand.

This material should be applied dry. Because of the holes in the material, it's very difficult to get bubbles during installation, so wet mounting is not typically necessary. If the graphic is unlaminated, wet installation will not harm the graphic, but the dry installation procedure below is recommended. Laminated view through vinyl should never be applied wet.

General Notes

  • Use a soft squeegee or protect the image with paper during installation to prevent damage to the printed image.
  • Graphics should be trimmed so that they are at least 1/8" away from window frames and seals to allow for exansion. The graphic will not adhere to silicone edging.
  • The ideal temperature of the air and glass would be between 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Surface Preparation

  • All surfaces should be considered dirty and must be cleaned prior to installation. Clean the area where the decals are to be applied with a household, non-ammonia based cleaner. We recommend an alcohol based cleaner such as isopropyl alcohol or equivalent. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

Applying the Window Graphic

  • For smaller graphics, you can simply peel off the liner and stick the decal to the window, starting on one edge and smoothing the decal onto the window.
  • For larger graphics, position your decal in the desired location and tack into place on each end with small pieces of masking tape.
  • Peel back about 2” of the release liner away from the top edge on the adhesive side of your decal.
  • Cut that section of the release liner off and discard or fold it under so it's not in the way.
  • Squeegee down the exposed edge of the decal starting from the center and working towards the edges. Let the squeegee cause the contact with the mounting surface and brush from the center outward using overlapping 45 degree angled strokes.
  • Flip the graphic up, or have an assistant hold it up and start to peel back the remaining release liner.
  • Pull back a few inches of the release liner at a time and squeegee the graphic into place using the same technique as above.
  • If you get an air bubble, you can either lift the decal enough to release the air, or squeegee the bubble toward a hole in the graphic to squeeze out the air.
  • Once the entire decal is applied, squeegee the entire decal once more to ensure a firm bond with the surface.
  • Some cloudyness to the clear areas of the decal is normal because of the air release feature, but much of this will go away after a few days.
