Gatorfoam Board

This heavy-duty foam board is made from an extruded polystyrene core with wood fiber veneer faces. It comes in a range of thicknesses and is available with either a white or black foam core. Gatorfoam features durable construction that helps prevent warping, bowing or twisting, and it’s more difficult to dent than standard foam boards, but should still be handled carefully to prevent damage.

The black core boards are excellent for prints that are mounted on the wall with the sides exposed, as the black core gives a high-end look. Both the black and white core products are great for framing or displays that hold rigid substrates. Available up to 48” x 96”, larger sizes up to 60" x 120" can be special ordered.

Indoor longevity of 5-25 years.

Favorite Features

The black core and back face give a high end look. The white boards are great for printing on both sides. It's a very durable foam board.

Drawbacks

Although this is a high density board, all foam boards can be dented or crushed by impact. It comes in sheets so sizes are limited. Polystyrene isn't eco-friendly.

Best Applications

Framed prints. Any display designed to hold rigid graphics of the appropriate thickness. Black core boards are great for prints that hang on the wall where the sides are visible.
