what's the size of the opening. what is the with at the top (or bottom) of the "C"? What size wire? What is the max weight they can hold?

Both sizes are 3/32" thick. The 1.5" size has a 7/16" opening and the 3" size has a 5/8" opening. The 1.5" size has a 1/2" inside diameter and the 3" size has a 1 1/8" inside diameter. Neither one is rated for weight. They are designed to hold up the Snap Graphics and Easy Graphics poster and banner hangers, and they have sufficient strength to support those system and any banners or posters they would hold. If you're using them for other purposes, you would need to order one and test it for suitability.
