Contender retractable banner stands have a compact base with single swing out foot for stability. They are made of strong extruded aluminum for dependable use, and the stylish shape and optional taller pole has made them a popular model for many years. Available in both silver and black finishes, it's often incorrectly claimed that this stand is made in America. It's actually assembled in the USA, which is something most other stands cannot claim, but that's not the same thing as being made in America. We like to provide accurate information, so we felt it was important to accurately represent the origin of this model.
Also called roll up banner stands or pull up banner stands, this style of banner display features a spring loaded roller that holds the banner under tension, and rolls it safely into the base for storage between uses. The Contender has a top rail with a metal panel strip with set screws for a secure connection to the banner. The bottom of the banner attaches with adhesive to a standard plastic leader.
The Contender comes in 4 different widths with a three section support pole to hold a 78" tall banner. Each size has an option of adding a 4th pole section to make a taller 105" banner. Comes complete with a padded travel bag with carry strap.
The Contender Mega displays a banner with a visible size of 35.5" x 77.5 with the standard pole, or 35.5" x 105" with the extra pole section.
Looking for a higher-end model?
An upgrade from the Contender Mega would be the QuickSilver Pro 36, although it's a wide base model without a swing out foot, since there are no compact models in the 35.5" width that are an upgrade from the Contender Mega. The QuickSilver Pro 36 adds adjustable height from 35" to 96", adjustable tension, fabric leader with low profile velcro attachment for easier banner changes and greater reliability, and a deluxe suitcase style carry bag.
Looking for a less expensive model?
The closest in size to the Contender Mega in a compact stand would be the Budget Roll Up 36, but it's a big step down in quality. An other option is the QuickSilver Pro 36 that is recommended as an upgrade, because it's also quite a bit less expensive.
The Smartpak Banner Stand Case is our recommended option when a shipping case is needed. It's lightweight and fairly inexpensive, but it provides good protection during shipping for a single compact banner stand. You can find the case by scrolling through the items in the Related Products tab.
The Lumina 2 Spotlight, Space Spotlight, or Space LED Spotlight are the recommended lights for use with the Contender Mega and they can be found in the Related Products tab. The stand will be less stable at the 105" height when lights are used, so it's not recommended for use in high traffic areas where people may come in contact with the stand.
