Window graphics are a great way to turn windows into advertisements. Window signs are very common in fast food restaurants, retail window displays, new construction and remodeling, and other applications where the use of window space is advantageous.
Signs can be either permanent or temporary, and come in both adhesive and static cling varieties, as well as perforated vinyl for one way view through displays. See the examples below to see how the one way view material works.

Static Cling - 5 mil Either side of this static cling vinyl will adhere to glass and other smooth surfaces, making for easy and economical window signs that can be used again and again. And, it can be used outdoors and in full sun without fear of premature fading. Also available in clear. Approximate outdoor longevity is 3 years, indoor longevity is 5-10 years. |

Repositionable Window Graphic - 8 mil This graphic has an optically clear, low tack, repositionable adhesive that turns it into a face mounting window graphic. It can also be used on the back side to allow temporary mounting to any smooth surface. Easier to apply than static cling without bubbles, simply remove the release liner and stick to any smooth surface. Also great for displays, temporary photo mounting and point of purchase displays. |

Laminates
Vinyl Laminate - 4 Mil
These pressure sensitive laminates are available in gloss, luster or matte finishes. They offer surface protection and can change the finish of your print to suit your display environment. When a high-gloss finish is desired, and glare is not a concern, gloss is the appropriate choice. Keep in mind that a gloss finish will show flaws, scratches and fingerprints more than any other laminate. Luster and matte offer the same protection without these disadvantages.

Optically Clear Polyester Laminate - 2 Mil
This thin, optically clear film offers surface protection for perforated view through vinyl. This laminate is not conforming so it can only be used on relatively flat surfaces. For more curved surfaces, use Optically Clear Cast Vinyl Laminate.

Optically Clear Cast Vinyl Laminate - 2 mil
This laminate offers protection against water, abrasion, chemicals and UV exposure for perforated view through adhesive vinyl. This cast vinyl laminate is conformable and the laminate of choice for perforated graphics on vehicle windows. For flat, business windows, the Optically Clear Laminate can be used.

Cast Vinyl Laminate - 2 Mil
This laminate offers protection against water, abrasion, chemicals and UV exposure. Since it is thicker, it offers better physical protection than Fluorex or AccuShield, and is extremely flexible, which makes it the protection of choice for vehicle graphics. Available in a gloss, matte or textured satin finish.

Repositionable Optically Clear Adhesive
This adhesive can be used on the face of a graphic to turn it into a window graphic or to second surface mount backlit films. It can be removed and re-applied as long as the adhesive is kept clean. Like a post-it note, once the adhesive picks up debris, it won't stick well. Once applied, the adhesive will become more aggressive over time, so it can also be used for permanent installations.

Our Recommendations
For graphics that need to mount face first to the inside of the window, Static Cling is a great choice for low cost, reusable window signs. They are more difficult to install without bubbles then our Repositionable Window Graphics, but they cost less and can be reused indefinitely. The Repositionable Window Graphic is the most versatile solution. It can be printed on a variety of materials with dye or pigment inks for long life, and stuck either face first in a window, or the back can be applied to any smooth surface. If the graphic is to be removed and reapplied repeatedly, then the release liner must be saved to protect the adhesive surface from getting dirty.
The SignUp is a great option if the graphics will be installed on the outside of the window, as this product has a unique adhesive on the back. It can be easily installed without wrinkles or bubbles, unlike statics, and can be removed and reused multiple times. Outside installation is a good idea anyway since it makes the graphic more visible, which is usually the idea, and several other materials are also good in this situation. Economy Matte Calendered Vinyl is good for up to three years and features a removable adhesive so it will come off without leaving a mess on the window. If you need resistance to cleaning solutions or longer life, a cast vinyl laminate can be added. Our View Through Window Film can be seen through from the inside, like looking through a window screen, so it's a great choice when you don't want to block a view from the inside. It comes in two versions, one with a 50% perforation pattern, and one that is 30% perforated. The 30% perforation is our favorite for business windows because it makes for a stronger image on the outside, but can still be seen through on the inside. The perforated vinyl can be laminated with a special optically clear material for extended longevity, but if some care is taken when cleaning the graphics, the laminate should be necessary for installations of 1-2 years.
