Floor Decals
Floor decals are a great way to reach customers as they shop, direct traffic, promote an event, create or reinforce brand identity, or even be used to decorate for a special event. Floor graphics and floor ads can catch the attention of potential buyers before a shopping decision is made, giving you some input at a critical point in the buying process unlike any other form of advertising. Directional floor decals can help direct traffic for events or in a busy office or help organize a warehouse. Floor decals can be used for special events, such as logos on a basketball court during a tournament, or special designs, photos or initials on a dance floor at a wedding or party. Since we have floor graphic materials for virtually any flooring surface, such as tile, carpet, or concrete, and even a floor decal material that can be repositioned and reused, there is no limit to how you can use this versatile form of advertising.
Good floor decals and floor signs have laminates that are slip resistant, and UL listed as such, as well as scratch and scuff resistant so that heavy traffic doesn't ruin them. Floor graphics should also hold up to common floor cleaning chemicals and methods. The floor decal adhesives should hold the floor graphics firmly in place, but come off without leaving adhesive residue or damaging the floor when removed. All our floor decal materials meet these requirements, unlike the cheap materials you commonly see used in grocery stores. Promotional Floor Decal - 7 mil
This floor decal material makes scuff-resistant, UL 410 classified slip-resistant interior floor signs that are ideal for 30-90 days of use. Our least expensive floor graphic, it’s perfect for shorter term promotions or longer term use in light traffic areas. The lighter weight means even intricate designs can easily be digitally die cut, and it is removable without leaving an adhesive residue. Available in widths up to 54".
Approximately 1-6 months indoor longevity, depending on traffic.
Repositionable Floor Decal - 7 mil
This floor graphic material makes scuff-resistant, UL 410 classified slip-resistant interior floor signs that are ideal for 30-90 days of use, and have the unique feature of being repositionable and reusable. The special adhesive allows these floor decals to be removed and reused as often as needed, as long as the adhesive is kept clean. This material can also be digitally die cut. Available in widths up to 54".

Economy Floor Decal - 9 mil
Floor signs with this material are scuff-resistant and UL-approved slip-resistant for interior floor graphics that are ideal for 3-8 months of use in standard volume traffic areas. Less expensive than our Premium Floor Decal, it’s perfect for shorter term use or situations where traffic is not as heavy. Can be digitally die cut, and is removable without leaving an adhesive residue. Available in widths up to 54".

Multi Surface Floor Decal - 8 mil
This textured indoor floor decal consists of a repositionable self- adhesive fabric with a textured vinyl coating. It is our only product that can be used on both floor and carpeted surfaces. It is ASTM D-2047 certified as slip resistant without lamination and it removes cleanly with little or no residue. It can also be die cut into irregular shapes. Available in widths up to 48".

Premium Floor Decal - 10 mil
This opaque floor decal material makes scuff-resistant, UL-approved slip-resistant interior floor signs that are perfect for 6-9 months of use in medium to heavy traffic areas. Heavy enough to have excellent durability, it’s still light enough to be digitally die cut when irregular shaped floor graphics are desired. It is removable without leaving an adhesive residue. Available in widths up to 54".

This floor decal material expands the areas where floor decals can be used to low pile carpet surfaces. It provides an exceptional bond while also remaining easily removable, withstands abrasion and wear from heavy foot traffic, and meets ASTM non-slip standards. It is warranted for 90 days including removal without leaving an adhesive residue. Available in widths up to 54".

Premium Carpet Decal - 27 mil
This premium opaque carpet decal material is designed for advertising on low pile carpeting and withstands abrasion and heavy foot traffic. The extra heavy laminate meets ASTM non-slip standards and is puncture resistant enough to withstand high heel shoes, while maintaining improved clarity over traditional heavy weight floor laminates. This helps images look sharper and graphics stay looking good for the life of the promotion. Available in widths up to 54".

Economy Sidewalk Decal - 8 mil
This removable adhesive floor decal is designed for indoor or outdoor walkway advertising on normal concrete surfaces. It is designed for 30-60 days of use, provides an excellent bond, withstands abrasion, meets ASTM non-slip standards and removes cleanly. For asphalt and heavily textured concrete, our regular Sidewalk Floor Decal is recommended. Available in widths up to 54".

Sidewalk Decal - 10 mil
Now floor decals can go outside! This material is designed for outdoor walkway advertising on heavily textured concrete and asphalt surfaces. It provides an exceptional bond to these surfaces, withstands abrasion and wear from heavy foot traffic and exposure to weather, and meets ASTM non-slip standards. It is warranted for 90 days. Removable, but can leave an adhesive residue on some surfaces. Available in widths up to 54".

CatWalk - 18 mil
This textured slip resistant, chemical resistant floor decal material is designed for smooth indoor flooring and wet area advertising. It is ASTM D-2047 certified as slip resistant without lamination, and the special adhesive remains easily removable without residue. Applies to most indoor surfaces such as tile, marble, concrete, linoleum, porcelain, etc. Tolerates water in showers, bathtubs, supermarkets, saunas, even inside swimming pools. We have also tested this for short term outdoor use on reasonably smooth sidewalk surfaces with good results. Available in widths up to 51".

This clear textured floor decal material can be printed normally, or with a white under print to help keep the floor color from showing through the image. It is ASTM D-2047 certified as slip resistant without lamination, and the special adhesive remains easily removable without residue. Tolerates water in showers, bathtubs, supermarkets, saunas, even inside swimming pools. We have also tested this for short term outdoor use on reasonably smooth sidewalk surfaces with good results. Available in widths up to 51".

3M Floor Decal - 17 mil
This floor decal material makes scuff-resistant, UL-approved slip resistant interior floor graphics. It offers outstanding resistance to dirt and wear from high foot traffic, and can be scrubbed, cleaned and waxed during routine maintenance of the floor. It can be easily removed from an approved floor surface, leaving behind no adhesive residue. Available in widths up to 54". This material is too heavy to be die cut into irregular shapes.

3M Sidewalk Decal - 21 mil
This durable, slip resistant material is designed for outdoor unsealed concrete and asphalt pedestrian surfaces. It's excellent for event advertising, special promotions, directional signage and information graphics. It is scuff and slip resistant, even when wet, holds up to the heaviest foot traffic, and is easy to clean. It's simple to apply and removes with little or no residue. Can be die cut. Available in widths up to 48".
This material is warranted for 90 days of use in pedestrian traffic areas. It can last much longer, but is only covered for replacement if it fails in the first 90 days.
Asphalt Art - 23 mil
This unique aluminum foil base film features a glass bead non-slip texture that lasts months longer than most other products and can withstand vehicle traffic as well as heavy foot traffic. The material conforms to the texture of the mounting surface, which gives the material a painted on look. It's simple to install and remove, and won't leave behind residue on most surfaces. Designed to be used up to 1 year, it's ideal for short term uses like parade graphics, street signage for public events, bus or subway station safety graphics, parking lot and drive through graphics. Can be die cut. Available in widths up to 48".

Floor Decals for Indoor Use
For the most part, floor decals break down by the length of time they are expected to last, with the prices increasing with the longevity. But, the longevity of a floor decal is really a function of how much traffic it gets. Our least expensive floor graphic material is our Promotional Floor Decal, and it's rated at 30-90 days of use. But, in a situation where the floor graphics are subjected to lighter traffic, they could last a year or more. So, the best approach is to choose a material based on how long you need it last, keeping in mind the amount and type of traffic you expect the floor decal to receive.
So, that being said, the Promotional Floor Decal is one of the best looking floor decal products we offer. This is largely because the floor laminate that protects this product is a little thinner than most of the other floor graphic laminates, but it also has a great color-enhancing property that is rare for a floor graphic. With this product being the least expensive, and best looking, it's our recommendation for any situation where you don't need the floor graphic to last for very long, or for use in light traffic areas.
For situations where you need floor graphics that can be moved around, or removed and reused at a later date, our Repositionable Floor Decal and Multi Surface Floor Decal each have a unique adhesive that allows you to do that. Of course, as with any adhesive product, the ability to keep reusing these floor graphics requires you to keep the adhesive clean, but otherwise you can remove and reuse them as needed. We've run into situations where customers were trying to use floor decals in facilities where there was concern about causing damage to the floor. While none of our floor decals will damage any normal flooring surface, the Repositionable Floor Decal material has an especially low tac adhesive that makes it an excellent choice for especially delicate floors.
The Multi Surface Floor Decal has several unique advantages. Like the Repositionable Floor Decal, it can be removed and reused, and as with the Repositionable Floor Decal, once the adhesive gets dirty, it won't stick as well and should be replaced. A unique feature of this material is that it's our only product that can be used on hard flooring as well as carpeted surfaces. This is ideal when you want decals that can be placed on a variety of different flooring areas, as you no longer need to purchase different products to accomplish this. This product is printed with UV curable inks, so it's extremely scratch resistant without the need for a laminate. Not having to view your message through a heavy floor laminate means these decals offer great color reproduction, so it's a excellent choice when bright, vibrant colors are important.
While each of our floor decals has a different finish, almost all of them have some type of textured surface to give them greater slip resistance. With the exception of the Promotional Floor Decal, Multi Surface Floor Decal, and Catwalk, most floor decals have heavy laminates that can dull the color and contrast to a certain extent due to their thickness and texture. The other exceptions are our Premium Gloss Floor Decal and Premium Clear Floor Decal materials. These materials have a smooth, gloss laminate that gives maximum color depth and saturation, while still meeting standards for slip resistance. That makes them excellent products for use on polished flooring surfaces where they will blend in better, or for situations where vibrant color is needed. They're particular good on basketball courts and other hardwood floors when you want the graphic to have a similar finish as the floor. But, the gloss finish is more reflective so glare may be a concern depending on the lighting.
The Premium Clear Floor Decal and ClearWalk are great for areas where die cutting isn't practical but you want the background of the decal to blend into the floor. The Premium Clear Floor Decal has greater clarity than the ClearWalk because it's a thinner material and has a smooth gloss surface so the unprinted areas are less noticeable on the floor. When using these images on a floor that isn't white, the image areas can be under-printed with white so only the unprinted areas are clear, or the image can be printed without the white underprint so the floor color and texture shows through the printed areas as well.
While all of our floor decal materials are certified slip resistant, that only applies to flooring that is dry. Like most indoor flooring surfaces, floor decals can be slippery when wet. The exceptions to this rule for indoor decals are the CatWalk and ClearWalk products. These floor graphic materials are our only indoor products that are slip resistant when wet, and are virtually water proof so they're excellent for wet area advertising. Pool surrounds, bath tubs, showers, saunas, supermarkets, spas, even inside swimming pools. They are fairly expensive materials, so while they're also great for dry areas, we have less expensive options in those cases, so they're most popular in areas that may get wet. Both these products can be used outdoors for shorter promotions on smooth or light textured surfaces. Keep in mind that with textured surfaces, if enough water is present it can get underneath the decals and cause the adhesive to fail, so smooth surfaces are best.
Another popular option for floor decals, is die cutting them into different shapes. Thanks to our new advanced cutting system, any material can be accurately die cut, but we don't recommend floor decals be cut into small shapes with little surface area, as they are less likely to adhere well to the floor. If you need floor decals cut with small, thin sections or individual letter or elements, keep in mind that they will not last as long as specified, and may fail very quickly depending on the material, the floor surface, and quality of the installation.
Floor Decals for Outdoor Use
As you might expect, decals for outdoor use are designed to be used on sidewalks and in parking lots, and the Economy version is the least expensive. The base vinyl on the Economy Sidewalk Decal is designed to adhere to low energy surfaces such as concrete, and remove cleanly when it's time to remove it. Because the adhesive is not as aggressive as the others, it's not recommended for extremely textured surfaces such as asphalt or cobblestones. The Multi Surface Floor Decal, CatWalk and ClearWalk were designed for smooth surfaces, but they will also adhere like the Economy Sidewalk Decal to concrete that is not extremely textured. Because CatWalk and ClearWalk are slip resistant when wet, they are excellent options for areas of foot traffic that are exposed to the elements, as long as the application surface is relatively smooth. On a textured surface, if too much moisture is present, it be able to get under the decal and cause the adhesive to fail, so keep that in mind if you choose these products.
The regular Sidewalk Decal has a more aggressive adhesive that allows it to conform to more severe textures so it can be used in parking lots and on other very rough textured surfaces. The down side to this adhesive is that it tends to leave adhesive behind when the decal is removed. Because of this, we don't recommend it for smoother concrete surfaces or in areas where an adhesive residue will be a problem.
The 3M Sidewalk Decal is heavy-duty and is slip resistant even when wet. It's designed for unsealed concrete and asphalt pedestrian traffic areas, and is extremely heavy and durable, can be die cut to custom shapes, is easy to install, and removes with little or no adhesive residue. The down side is that it's one of the most expensive sidewalk decals we offer.
Asphalt Art is a unique foil-based material with a textured glass bead surface that makes it slip resistance in all weather conditions. It's the longest lasting decal that is designed to last for up to year, and it's the most conformable giving the installed graphic a painted on look, yet it's easy to remove with little or no adhesive residue. It's also one of the best looking since the material doesn't require lamination so your image isn't being viewed through a thick layer of floor laminate. There are many examples of this product being used longer than 1 year, but the surface they are applied to and how they are installed have a big effect on the longevity. For the longest lasting sidewalk or asphalt decal, this is the best option. Like the 3M Sidewalk Decal, this is an expensive material, but it's unique properties make it ideal for a wide variety of outdoor floor advertising.
No, because the process is digital you can order any quantity from 1 on up. There are discounts for ordering multiple copies, so the price per print decreases with larger quantities, but there is no minimum.
Normal turnaround time is 4-5 business days. During the order process you will be asked if you have a specific due date, and if you do, we will adjust your shipping method, if necessary, to get your order to you on time. If you need your order even quicker, we also have a rush service. If you authorize rush charges, we can get your order shipped in 1-2 days. Rush charges are $75 per order. If we're able to meet your deadline without bumping other jobs, we won't actually charge the rush charge, but you must authorize the rush to guarantee delivery.
For high quality prints that look good up close, we recommend files be 150dpi at the actual size they will be printed. Since floor decals are not viewed closer than 4-6 feet, lower resolution files will work from this viewing distance if necessary. If this is case with your floor graphics, you can use files that are as low as 72-100 dpi and still get satisfactory results. We use special software to enlarge smaller files for printing at larger sizes, but the larger your original files, the better the results will be so you should always use the largest files you can. When in doubt, send us your file and we'll examine it and let you know how large we think it can go and still look good.
No, floor graphics are some of the easiest graphics to install. Because they are thick with heavy laminates, they are stiffer and don't stretch which makes them much easier to install than regular vinyl. Here are the instructions for installing floor decals:
Surface Preparation
- The floor surface must be clean and dry prior to applying decals
- Any wax, paints or coatings on the floor must have good adhesion to the flooring substrate.
- Testing for product suitability by user is recommended prior to all applications
Applying the Decal
- Peel back about 1” of release liner from top of the decal. Fold and crease liner back.
- Position decal starting with the top. Apply firmly using a plastic squeegee.
- Continue removing liner a small amount at a time and press down the decal with the squeegee with overlapping strokes working from the center out at a 45 degree angle.
- After the entire decal is applied, squeegee the entire surface, working from the center out, to remove any air bubbles and to ensure good adhesion. Make sure the edges are applied well.
- Do NOT apply with water.
Routine Maintenance
- Wait 24 hours after application before cleaning or waxing floor.
- To maintain condition of the decals, avoid exposing them to heavy equipment traffic.
- CAUTION: If the edges of the decal begin lifting, replace immediately to avoid risk of injury due to tripping hazard.
Removal Instructions
- Lift one edge of the decal and pull using short, quick strokes.
We have two floor graphic materials that are clear, Premium Clear Floor Decal and ClearWalk. These are great on white floors, or there is an option to underprint the image areas with white ink when used on a colored or darker floor to help the design stand out and keep the floor color from tinting the entire decal or making it difficult to read.
Usually clear floor decals are requested by customers who want the design to float on the floor without seeing the edges of the decal. The Premium Clear Floor Decal would be the least visible on the floor because of it's smooth gloss surface. The heavier weight and textured surface of the ClearWalk make the unprinted areas more noticeable.
An alternative to this can be achieved by die cutting the floor graphics into irregular shapes that conform to your design, and this can also be done with clear floor decals to further conceal the edges. Depending on the design, it may not be advisable to cut out each element individually, but rather cut a shape around all the elements so the graphic is still in one piece. This will give it more surface area so it will stick better on the floor, and make installation much easier. See the question below on custom shapes for more information on this.
Removing floor decals is as simple as lifting it from one edge and the peeling it up off the floor. If you are removing a Repositionable Floor Decal and won't be re-installing it right away, you should replace the release liner on the back to protect the adhesive and keep it clean until you are ready to install it again. If the adhesive on these floor graphics becomes dirty, they won't be able to stick as well and would need to be replaced.
All our floor graphics materials are safe to use on any floor surface that is properly prepared without causing damage. If you have a particularly delicate floor, or one that is unusual in some way, it's a good idea to test the material on your floor to be safe. We have printed samples of all our floor decals, so contact us and request a sample of the material(s) you are interested in and we'll be happy to send them to you for testing.
We can make floor decals of any size, but the largest size we can make them in a single piece is 53" wide by just about any length for most materials. If you are ordering floor graphics with die cutting, the you must limit the width to 49" to allow for die cutting registration marks. The Multi Surface Floor Decal and 3M Sidewalk Decal materials can only be printed up to 47" wide, or 44" wide with die cutting. CatWalk and ClearWalk can be printed up to 50" wide and 46" with die cutting.
All our floor decals can be waxed, but we don't recommend waxing any decals that are for short term use, such as the Repositionable Floor Decal, as this might make them more difficult to remove and reuse.
For irregularly shaped floor graphics, we can digitally die cut them into virtually any shape. All our floor decals can be digitally die cut, except for the 3M Floor Decals, which are too thick for this process, but the heavier materials are more difficult to accurately cut. If your floor graphics require intricate or precise cutting, it's best to avoid the Premium Floor Decals as the weight of these products can make it more difficult to get a precise cut. If you do need these materials cut, we suggest a simpler shape or a more forgiving design in case the cut is slightly misaligned.
If you want your floor graphics cut out in a shape, we need a vector path that is read by our equipment to determine where to cut your floor decals. There are two ways to set this up. The first way is for you to create a cut path yourself. This can be done in a drawing program such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw, or you can draw the path in Photoshop and we can copy it out and use it. If you decide to do this, be sure you draw a complete, closed path and that you leave approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch of image outside the cut path to allow for variances in the cutting. The smaller your floor decal, the smaller the margin needs to be. Make the path a color that will stand out against your image and we will handle the technical details.
If you don't have the ability to create the cut path, or prefer not to, we can create it for you, but we do charge for the service. With most images, the cost is $20 but if you want to send us your file in advance, we can verify what the cost will be to create the cut path for you.
When you fill out the order form, be sure to select die cutting under Other Finishing to add this service to your order.
We only use floor graphics materials that meet the ASTM D2047 anti-slip standard for floor surface. Keep in mind that like most floors, floor decals can be slippery when wet, so it's important to keep them clean and dry to keep them slip resistant and avoid accidents. The CatWalk, ClearWalk, 3M Sidewalk Decal and Asphalt Art are the only floor decals that are still slip resistant when wet.
